Fashion Tips for Transitioning from Summer to Fall

It's time to say a familiar farewell to sweet summertime and an excited hello to Autumn! I am a huge fan of cooler weather so I welcome Fall with open arms and I especially love covering up in layers as the temperature chills down a bit! Here are some tips that help with dressing for the transition from Summer to Fall.

Swap Out Your Shoes

Most seasons have specific shoes. Spring and summer are associated with sandals, and canvas sneakers, whereas autumn and winter are home to boots and booties… which makes me oh so happy. I love a good pair or two of those... or three hundred. ;)  (Stay tuned for a future post on my favorite boots).

Wear Warm Colors

Thankfully, Autumn is one of the easiest palettes to both recognize and work with. Just think of earth tones like colors in the shade ranges of brown, olive, wine, orange, and gold. Make sure that the shades you choose complement your complexion, hair and eye color. For instance, I don’t wear orange unless I’m tan… which would not be in the Fall. ;)
Finding clothes that wear well in warm weather but have autumn colors will allow you to adapt to the season without having to adjust your wardrobe’s comfort level.

This last step is the most obvious and I won’t claim to offer anything new or novel here. However, there’s a reason layering is on everyone’s mind when the seasons change – it’s simple and effective!
It’s very rare to have the temperature be the same when you get home at night as it was when you left in the morning. In Georgia, the temp can fluctuate up to 30 degrees from morning to afternoon so layers are a key piece of my wardrobe in Spring and Fall which are transitional seasons that aren’t always long term. By having a few extra layers you’re able to adapt throughout the day.
As always, be true to yourself and live life on your own terms, love much, laugh often, eat delicious, nutritious and filling food and look fabulous while doing it all! Love, Blair :)
