Beauty Basics: Tip #1- Moisturize

Many people ask what my skin care routine involves... to provide a simple answer would be complicated as I devote more time, energy and resources to skin, hair and body care than most people would be willing to even think about. So I have come up with a Top 10 list that's easier to digest. 

First of all, I have to give credit to Dr. Audrey Kunin for her DERMAdoctor Skinstruction Manual which I consider to be my beauty Bible! Experiencing a condition known as Keratosis Pilaris (KP for short) I found Dr. Kunin's KP specific products and fell absolutely in love with many of her products and, most especially, her advice. Many of these tips are a combination of her treatment approaches, advice and knowledge sharing combined with my own first hand experience.

Tip #1- Moisturize

Moisture to your skin is as water is to a plant. This may seem contrary to someone with oily skin may think (trust me I have oliy skin too), but there are good forms of moisture and bad forms of moisture that can clog pores and cause break outs. The key is to use non pre clogging (non comodegenic) moisturizers so look for that term and you can also use products that are made for what your skin type is: dry, oily or a combination of both. The drier your skin is the easier it is for wrinkles to form. The more moisturized it is the less likely you are to see creases take up more permanent residence. Many of us look at moisturizers just as a way to keep our skin from getting wrinkled and cracked, but healthy skin is essential to our overall health.
