How Healthy Is Halloween Candy?
Blair has a sweet tooth from time to time, and while he maintains a healthy lifestyle it certainly can be acceptable to have a treat or two, especially on Halloween. But in doing so, he maintains modesty.
Every Halloween, it is nearly impossible to avoid candy as it is in ample supply all around us. We tell ourselves, "Just one more peice." It seems almost as hard to control yourself when adults are just as excited about candy as the kids. One peice leads to four, and four leads to an empty bucket before you realized what you have done. The candy companies seem to be in a conspiracy creating "fun sized" candy for this occassion making one peice never enough. With Halloween being the official start of the Holidays for most people, this time of year our calorie intake goes up and our belly's go out. So lets break down our favorite candies by the calorie!
Candy Corn - 7 calories a peice! Doesn't seem like a lot, but for those who love this creme-like treat, it adds up quickly.
Hershey's Kisses - Your typical chocolate kiss has 22 calories. Yes, one kiss is over 1 percent of a typical 2,000 calorie diet! Add a few more kisses, you won't have much room left for your regular meals!
Reeses Peices - Who doesn't love this peanut buttery goodness? Even aliens like E.T. fall in love with this classic treat. An average fun size bag of Peices is about 70 calories!
Peanut Butter Cups - This treat is nearly 80 years old and considered a Halloween classic. They are very tasty to an American taste pallete and one cup is roughly about 105 calories! So be careful not to over indulge!
Snickers - When you're hungry, grab a snickers! Unless you are trying to lose weight. The average fun sized Snicker bar is 71 calories!
Tootsie Rolls - This classic candy is an amazing treat that doesn't melt nor is perishable. How many calories could a little peice pack? 23 to be exact.
M&M's - A favorite for the young and old a like! A funsized pack of the peanut variety will cost you 90 calories while its counterpart the milk chocalte kind, only 70 calories per pack.
Airheads - This delicious chewy taffy comes in a variety of flavors and is often so inexpensive its very popular on this holiday. A half ounce bar of cherry, its most popular flavor is 45 calories!
Twizzlers - Were going to talk about the strawberry kind, because not many like black licorice. Just one red peice is 50 calories. That can add up quickly as many can eat an entire bag at once!
Jelly Beans - Who doesn't love these kinds of beans? Each peice is 4 calories, which doesn't sound like a lot, but how many times have you scooped up a handful?
Skittles - This sugary treat makes kids go crazy! One fun sized bag is roughly 60 calories.
Sweet Tarts - A classic for Halloween and Valentines, Sweet Tarts fun size packs are roughly about 50 calories.
